A minimum of two grade Ds at GCSE or a minimum of a Pass in one Level 2 BTEC or equivalent.

You will also undertake a significant amount of work experience outside the college. This will enable you to develop both your qualifications and your social skills of working in a real environment.
This is a very interactive practical course that involves producing video, internet and print-based media products. You will benefit from using the fantastic facilities in our media centre. You will learn and develop practical skills and literacy that are both challenging and fun. Within this programme of study you will gain a qualification in Media equivalent to 2 GCSEs, You will study English and Mathematics up to achieving the grade of 5/C and complete at least 30 hours work experience during the year. During this whole qualification you will develop skills academically and social which will also lead to an Employability Skills Passport Certificate which will help to prepare your for the workplace, should you choose to enter it after this qualification.
This course has two exams and your work will be assessed throughout the course. You will be given a grade for each unit – Pass, Merit and Distinction and these will be used to calculate your final grade. All coursework units are internally marked and externally moderated.
The BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Creative Media is a practical work related course and provides a good basis for employment or more advanced related qualifications.
Students are encouraged to develop their skills outside of the classroom. Video recording, sound recording and reflective online Blogs.

Classroom based teaching and learning. Using Computer Video editing suites, both individually and in groups.
You have an interest in creating and exploring film making, web design and print based media products. Learning new software packages and enjoys both practical and written work.
If you are geared towards theoretical academic learning. You do not enjoy working as part of a group.
