Membership Criteria

  • Aspire to achieve academic and sporting excellence
  • Submit academic work to deadlines
  • Excellent level of attendance (academic and performance sessions)
  • Adhere to Academy and College Code of Conduct


The Wilberforce Sixth Form College Rugby Academy offers talented Rugby League players to opportunity to combine performance and academic excellence. Rugby League players within the Rugby League Academy will receive 1 hour of expert coaching and support per week. This includes technical and tactical coaching for all players. Further support is also offered in the form of nutritional advice and psychological and physiotherapy support.

How to become part of the Rugby League Academy and achieve academic excellence

No matter which subject area you study you can also become part of the Rugby League Academy (subject to meeting the criteria). Additional support is on hand to tailor a balanced personalised learning programme to ensure that all students meet all of their academic targets. The Rugby League Academy Manager will liaise closely with personal tutors to ensure all students maintain progress within the area of study.
