Overview

Do you love performing arts, dance, drama, West End shows? Are you creative in your approach? If you thrive on learning new performances, acting, variety and vocal skills then this could be the course for you! 

This course is for you if you love performing arts, drama, west end shows, enjoy performing and are creative in your approach. If you enjoy practical work and thrive on learning new performance and acting skills. You need a keen interest in performing arts- Drama and the confidence to perform in front of others. If you are experienced in performing arts already your skills will be put to good use. In addition to your studies there will be various trips and visits throughout the year allowing you to see a wide range of performances that will open your mind to new performance experiences, question and answer sessions and workshops. 

What will you learn?

During your time on this course you will study a range of drama skills, techniques and practitioners to enable you to develop as a artist & performer within the performing arts industry. You will have the opportunity to device your own work/ performance individually and as a group as well as learn scripted work to perform to an invited audience here at the college. Whilst on the course you will have the opportunity to watch live theatre performances and work with artists and companies from the industry to give you real life experience of the requirements for working within performing arts.   

Who is the course aimed at?

The course is aimed at anyone who is currently studying drama/performing arts at GCSE or BTEC level, or anyone who has previous experience or a keen interest within performing arts/drama.

  • Entry Requirements Arrow down

    You will need a minimum of five GCSE grades 9-4 and a GCSE average of 5.3. You will also need to have achieved a grade 4 or higher in GCSE English Language or Literature. A GCSE qualification in a Drama-related subject is desirable, and you must be able to perform confidently in front of others. 

  • Experiences Arrow down

    This course will provide you with the opportunity to hear from academic and industry professionals in talks and workshops to improve your skills and learn new techniques. 

    You will also be given the chance to take part in college-wide performances and events, such as our Achievement Awards Evenings and Creative Arts Festival. 

    Throughout the course you will have a number of opportunities to watch live performances in the college and at external theatres. 

  • Progression Arrow down

    You can progress to a higher education by going onto a degree level course at university of a conservatoire performing arts school. From this you can then work towards a range of jobs within the industry including the following: 

    • Actor 

    • Musical theatre performer 

    • Drama therapist 

    • Theatre director  

    • Screen writer 

    • Arts administrator  

    • Self employed artist 

    • Self employed- Performing arts school principle/ teacher

    Past students have progressed onto degree level courses at university and conservatoire schools focusing on performance, drama & musical theatre. From this they have become professional stage and screen actors, singers, dancers, performers and entertainers in a wide range of companies.
