This qualification is designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills in the growing applications of digital technology including programming, web design and mobile apps. The range of units provides variety and a suitable foundation for employment in the digital industry, enabling learners to take their first steps into employment or as a basis for further study, including university.

Who is the course aimed at?
This course is for you is you would like a career working with computers and you would like to find out more about how computer games are designed and developed. It opens doors to a number of further study and career opportunities.
You must have:
• Four or more GCSE grades 9-4 or equivalent in three or more subjects
• A grade 3 or higher in GCSE English Language
• A grade 4 or higher in GCSE Maths
This course will provide you with the opportunity to take part in trips to EGX London, the biggest gaming event of the year. You will be able to visit panels featuring the biggest names in gaming and hear all about unreleased games and technology, as well as play some of those games yourself! Within the college, you’ll be able to take part in the Upskilling Programme which will feature gaming and coding clubs, as well as our Esports Team, the Wilberforce Wolves!
Students who complete a qualification in IT: Software Development & Design may choose to go on to complete a degree in an area like IT or Software Development. If higher education isn’t for you, a higher level apprenticeship would also be available in an area like software development or IT.
Students who complete a qualification in IT go on to a wide variety of jobs. These can include: Software Engineer, IT Technical Support Officer or Systems Analyst, to name a few.
