T Levels are new courses which follow GCSEs and are equivalent to 3 A levels

Why should I study this course?

We are launching this course for September 2022 starters. T Levels are new, two-year, technical study programmes (similar to apprenticeships) designed with employers to give young people the skills that industry needs. They are career-focused, with a significant industry placement allowing you to develop the knowledge and skills you need to compete for the best university places, higher/degree apprenticeships and highly skilled careers.

T Levels are for young people who are academically strong and ambitious to get ahead in high-level technical occupations (next level skills for next level jobs). They provide the chance to learn what a real career is like while studying.

T Levels will offer you a mixture of classroom learning and 'on-the-job' experience during an extended industry placement of at least 315 hours (approximately 45 days). They will provide knowledge and experience needed to open the door into skilled employment, further study or a higher apprenticeship.

The Engineering And Manufacturing: Maintenance, Installation And Repair T Level:

  • Takes two years and is equivalent to 3 A Levels
  • Gives you the UCAS points for university
  • Combines classroom and work-based learning
  • Is designed with industry leaders to give you a career edge

What you'll get:

  • Core industry skills and knowledge
  • Specialist skills and knowledge relevant to your chosen career
  • A minimum 315-hour (45 day) industry placement with an employer

  • Teaching in bespoke industry standard environments

What will I study?

T-Level courses will include the following compulsory elements:

  • a technical qualification, which will include core theory, concepts and skills for an industry area
  • specialist skills and knowledge for an occupation or career
  • an industry placement with an employer

The T Level Engineering and Manufacturing: Maintenance, Installation and Repair course consists of two examinations on a wide range of engineering practice and theory, alongside a work placement within an engineering company. The course will help you develop the skills to adapt and react quickly to high-pressure situations.

How is the course assessed?

Teaching will be a mix of classroom-based delivery (around 80%) and industry placement (20%). This will give you an opportunity to link theory to up-to-date best practice, providing our graduates with outstanding learning opportunities so that they can successfully progress to their chosen career.

You will sit two exams during the first year of the course as well as working on an Employer Set Project (ESP). You will also complete a pathway into Mechanical Engineering.

A Distinction* at T Level is worth the same as 3 A Levels at A*.

These qualifications will be recognised by universities and other education providers for students who wish to further their studies.
