We are delighted to be celebrating an outstanding set of exam results for A Level and Level 3 BTEC and City & Guilds students.

Principal Colin Peaks comments:

‘A huge and heartfelt congratulations to all of our students!  It’s been another disruptive year for them and their families but today has given them huge cause for celebration.  I can’t reiterate enough how impressed I have been with students’ resilience and how they have remained focussed on their goals.’

Students have yet again exceeded the College’s expectations by achieving a 100% pass rate on all courses and over 78% high grades across the board; they are now being rewarded with top university places, training courses and employment opportunities.

Amongst the many exceptional results, Lucy Cropper is pleased to celebrate achieving A in Biology, A in Chemistry and A in Maths. She will now go on to Sheffield University to study MChem Chemistry with a year in industry.

Lucy has been consistently able to demonstrate commitment and dedication to her A Level studies, despite the challenges she has faced over the last 18 months.

Lucy says: ‘I feel really happy with my results. Wilberforce College was great in bringing universities and employers in to talk about next steps and what to do after College, which re-inforced my decision to progress to Sheffield.’

‘My confidence since studying at Wilberforce has improved massively. The teachers are great and always gave support in and outside of lessons. I made some amazing friends and have enjoyed my time spent at college. I’m delighted with my A Level results!

Principal Colin Peaks continues: ‘ These results are testament to the hard work and dedication from our students, alongside the commitment from our teaching staff to help each individual to reach their potential and enable them to achieve places at universities around the country.

I want to wish each and every one of of our students the very best of luck,  I am confident that they will go on to achieve brilliant things in the future.’

The college is also celebrating the success for the ongoing drive to improve digital capabilities through the Department for Education’s EdTech Demonstrator programme.

This has seen us support many schools in and around the Hull area whilst also benefitting our own students, who are now equipped with digital skills that can be put into use as they progress further through their education and careers.

We have also been working closely with our partners in the Advance Colleges Trust to make sure that our students fully stretch their potential and have the best start to their future lives. The Advance Colleges Trust – Franklin, John Leggott and Wilberforce sixth form colleges – brings together the best sixth form college teachers and specialist staff in the region, and the impact this has had on the achievement of young people shines through in this year’s results.

Alongside this, we have also continued to make significant improvements to the College site and facilities, with over £1 million invested.  This includes a fully renovated Performance Theatre and Learning Resource Centre, as well as our very own replica hospital ward to support our delivery of the new Health T Levels.

Wilberforce is leading the way for change in education. We are excited for what the future holds for our students.
