IT student Alec Ferriby has recently won the College’s annual ‘Enterprise Award’ for his outstanding professionalism, enthusiasm and creativity in developing a fully functional website for local start-up business White Rose Gymnastics.
Ex-South Holderness School pupil Alec, designed the White Rose website from scratch, including an online portal for booking gym classes, as part of the website unit of his Level 3 Extended Diploma in Games Design. Working to a brief from White Rose Gymnastics owner, Josh Borom, Alec built the website in just a couple of months, liaising with Mr Borom throughout to ensure the website fulfilled his customers’ needs.
Josh Borom, a recent Newcastle University graduate, recently founded White Rose Gymnastics with help from the Princes Trust. He has created a gymnastics coaching business which endeavours to inspire younger generations with a passion for this unique and dynamic discipline of sport, whilst promoting and encouraging a healthy, fit and active lifestyle. Josh currently operates his coaching business in Goole, Snaith and South Cave but plans to move into Hull in future months, he comments….
“We approached Wilberforce College with the hope to find a capable individual with the ability to create a dynamic and youthful website for our new business. The College was extremely responsive and not shy in challenging their students with this project. Alec has been extremely adaptable and communicative throughout this process and has exceeded all our expectations in website production.”
Alec, who is now designing further websites for other small businesses, plans to progress onto a Digital Design Degree at Hull University in September, balancing HE Studies with developing his own web design company.
