Ministers meet with us to plan national digital skills revolution

Today we chaired a a cross-party meeting with the Chair of the Education Select Committee, Robert Halfon MP and Karl Turner MP, where our approach to online teaching and learning was championed as a model to enable the country to speed up its post-Covid recovery.

Leading the DfE Edtech Demonstrator programme for Hull and East Riding has had a far-reaching impact and has enabled us to improve the accessibility of education for students in 22 local and national schools and colleges over the last few months. We have now been awarded Microsoft Showcase College status and are the only sixth form in the UK to be awarded this accolade.

More and more students are making Wilberforce their first choice as it is becoming clearer to parents and students that our outstanding and award-winning teachers provide the best option to ensure students are successful in their studies and are digitally-ready for further study, apprenticeships and the evolving workplace.

Because we put the student experience first we also understand the responsibility we have as an institution to ensure the whole region recovers and is seen as a prime target for investment and opportunities to coincide with the governments levelling up agenda.
