Students taking the Wilberforce enrichment course, ‘Preparing for Business’, took part in the North Humber’s Young Enterprise Competition recently, where they were challenged to research, set up and run their own company.
Five aspiring student entrepreneurs formed the company ‘Pamper Pets’ creating gifts for moggies and doggies including luxury pamper hampers and the more affordable, smaller, pet parcels. With start-up funding gained from selling shares in their company, Pamper Pets went on to make a tidy profit after making good sales linked to Christmas, Valentine’s Day and Easter consumer markets.
Despite strong competition from much larger teams, Pamper Pets impressed the judges, all local business people, with their trade stand, company report and entrepreneurial skills. After a testing, four hour interview and presentation process the Wilberforce team of Nikola Stodolska, Dylan McLauchlan and Fred Arnold came away with awards for “Best Marketing, Sales and Customer Focus” and “Best Financial Management”!
