“I want to say a massive thank you to all our students, staff and parents. Re-opening the full college after over five months of closure was always going to be a challenge, but I think it’s fair to say that our first week was a fantastic success.
To our STUDENTS – new and continuing – you have handled yourselves with incredible maturity in what is a new situation to us all. The hugs, handshakes and pats on the back might have gone, but I hope you still felt a warm welcome. We need you to continue with this great start: keep sanitising, keep distant and wear a mask in social areas.
To our PARENTS – I know first-hand how difficult it has been for some of you this past week – I’ve sent my youngest off to secondary school and am preparing my eldest to go off to university this month – but your support has been and continues to be invaluable. Thank you.
To our STAFF – I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your efforts over the past couple of weeks, ensuring a smooth start to the academic year. These are challenging times for us all, which makes a hard job even harder, but I’m confident in our ability together to make the best of the situation.
The safety and wellbeing of our students has always been a priority at Wilberforce College, but more so now in the midst of a global pandemic. We are keeping abreast of Government guidelines and adapting as we need to; we will continue to brief staff, students and parents as things progress.
We know there is going to be a challenging few months ahead but within all the uncertainty, we will ensure all our students receive the best learning, best support and achieve outstanding results.
I look forward to working with you all over the coming year.”
