Geography

My love of Geography started when I studied the subject at A-Level. The areas of the subject I gained a real passion for were climate and coastal environments. This continued onto university where I completed a degree in Physical Geography at the University of Hull. I have worked within education ever since leaving university, on my path to becoming a teacher. Roles have not always involved teaching, I was a Study Support Tutor and Progress Mentor at Wilberforce before taking over the teaching of Geography. Prior to working here, I was a teacher of ESOL at a small centre in West Hull, of which I am now a trustee and continue this work on a more organisational and planning level.

I thoroughly enjoy getting the opportunity to teach my subject to students here at Wilberforce, as I get to be able to pass on my enthusiasm for Geography and the world we live in. The field trips are pretty fun too and certainly a highlight of the year! Seeing different groups of students each year who are completely different in nature gel together as a class makes the job both incredibly rewarding and satisfying.

There’s nothing better than students achieving their potential and I certainly enjoy the journey of getting there!
