I have over 25 years’ teaching experience (20 of them at Wilberforce College), teaching across a wide range of courses from special educational needs through to HNC level in subjects such as website design, programming, business information systems and computer systems.
I have a BA (Hons) in Business and Information Systems, an MSc in Teaching and Learning Technologies and a PGCE in post-compulsory education. I also possess a number of industry standard ICT qualifications.
I currently teach on our BTEC Level 2 course in IT and on the BTEC Level 3 course in Software Design and Development in addition to teaching on the Public Services BTEC. I started working at the college in August 2001 as a Teacher of ICT. Prior to this, I worked at Hull College for over 10 years in various roles ranging from Learning Advisor to Lecturer in ICT and Computing. I left full-time work at Hull College to become a Training Manager for a leading firm of solicitors, whilst maintaining a part-time teaching role before taking up my position at Wilberforce. I have also delivered a wide range of adult education provision in the city.
I have a keen interest in discovering new ways of teaching and using innovative technology.
My hobbies include gardening, yoga, pilates, walking, going to the theatre and the cinema. I am an avid reader and a member of several online book groups, am never too far away from a book and will give most genres of books a go. I have set myself a challenge to read at least 150 books in 2021.
