Music and Theatre Performance

I joined Wilberforce to teach music and drama in 2018. I’m a former Wilberforce student myself, coming here from Winifred Holtby School and then moving on to the University of Hull to gain my BA degree in Music Performance and Technology.

I am a musician, poet, and writer from Hull and former frontman of the band Republic Of Trees who have been performing live in the UK and internationally for 10 years. I am currently releasing music under my own name and have been working with young musicians in Kingston upon Hull for 5 years, working with mental health charities and organising festivals.

Having previously been a guitar technician, sound technician and, ‘roadie’ for touring bands I have also worked for Hull New Theatre and Hull City Hall as a Music Technician and Stage Technician, working with actors and musicians for major touring shows.

I am now the A&R for Wilberforce College’s own record label, Ronno Records, which I set up in 2018/19. I like to organise regular gigs and events for our students in venues across town, whether that’s a regular spot once a month, or a day long music festival such as our Wilberforce-sponsored Youth Stage at Humber Street Sesh in August 2019.
