I’ve been teaching for 19 years and have spent the last 14 years at Wilberforce College. My main teaching area is Sport and PE, teaching on Level 2, Level 3 and A level PE but I also teach on the Level 2 Applied Science course. My love of sport started as a child and I would literally play for any sports team that I could! I studied Sports Development and Coaching at Sheffield Hallam University with a view to joining the Police, however plans changed and I used the knowledge I’d gained in my degree, mixed with my enthusiasm for all things sport to train as a PE teacher. I’m a firm believer in the power of physical activity and good nutrition in promoting good physical and mental health for everyone. You don’t have to be super sporty to enjoy being physically active and to feel the health benefits of following an active lifestyle and a good diet.
Away from College, I’m a member of a big local gym and love doing exercise classes as often as I can. I’m also a mum to an amazing 11 year-old son and spend a lot of my weekends standing on the side-lines watching him play rugby and football. In my spare time I enjoy cooking and trying new foods, putting a healthy spin on things where I can. I’ve been fortunate to be able to travel to some beautiful places and love exploring new cities and embracing different cultures. I’m also really creative (I was a Blue Peter kid in the 80’s!) and love making things and painting.
