Paul Fielder began his academic journey 14 years ago. Back then, he wasn’t really sure what college was. He said, “I came to Wilberforce not really understanding what college or A-levels were. I’m from a family who, apart from my sister, don’t have any GCSEs or A-levels.”
After studying for A-levels in PE, Psychology, Geography and General Studies, Paul had got the learning bug and wanted to do more. He said, “Something clicked while I was at Wilberforce College. I started to enjoy my education. My teachers – especially in psychology and PE – were motivational and made classes interesting. I really loved being there. I’ve found that since then I want to further myself more and keep learning.”
After college, Paul completed a degree in Sports Studies at Staffordshire University. He later completed an MSc in Sports Management at Sheffield Hallam University. He made the most of his love for sports and relocated to the US to coach Major League Soccer teams in New York, Boston and Los Angeles.
He moved back to Yorkshire in 2000 to work as a Business Development Manager for a small company called Zoo Digital Group who specialise in interactive media. The company copyrighted the technology that made it possible to make interactive DVDs and sold the idea to Disney and Universal Studios. After being an integral part of helping the company expand internationally for eight years, Paul felt he had gone as far as he could within the business and was looking for a new challenge.
He has now set up his own property management business, Lime Property. It specialises in letting high-end town houses and flats in Hull to young professionals. Paul’s next step is to expand his business to cater for families and to move into property sales. He also plans to go back to university and complete a second degree in business and marketing.
