Sarah and Katie Bowes are the owners of ‘Bowes Threads’, a successful local fashion business specialising in quirky t-shirts celebrating Hull’s extraordinary heritage. The duo do all of their own designing, dying, printing and manufacturing themselves. Previously they’ve had a concession stand in Topshop Hull, which garnered many positive reviews and even endorsements from fellow Hull alumni Emmerdale actress Gemma Oaten and Milkshake presenter Amy Thompson. They now sell their eye-catching creations in local independent stores around the city. The collection includes a ‘Pattie Butty’ and a ‘Chip Spice’ printed T-Shirt, and the range has expanded to include baseball tops, sweatshirts, and even baby t-shirts! ‘Bowes Threads’ have already started preparing for Hull City of Culture 2017 with a unique assortment of t-shirt designs. You can find their t-shirts online or in Beasley’s Clothing in Hepworth Arcade, Tessies Boutique in Newland Avenue and also Poorboy Boutique in Princes Quay.
