On Wednesday 13 December, Second Year Music Students who are part of Wilberforce’s own record label – Ronno Records – held a charity gig like no other at the iconic Adelphi Club. The students wholeheartedly embraced the spirit of music, pouring their passion into an extraordinary event that showcased their immense talent and purpose. This event not only served as part of their curriculum, but also as a testament to their unwavering commitment to making a difference.
The primary mission of this event was to support Papyrus UK, a charity dedicated to preventing young suicide. Our students chose this cause to raise awareness and contribute to a matter that deeply resonates with them, emphasising the crucial importance of mental health and support amongst young people.
 
The preparation for this gig was an industrious journey. Students not only performed on stage, but took on industry-standard roles such as stage manager and guitar tech, ensuring a professional experience for everyone involved. This hands-on approach played a vital role in their coursework and vocational training, equipping them with valuable real-life skills for their future careers.
 
The audience on the night were treated to a packed showcase of phenomenal talent. Each act was a testament to their hard work, dedication, and profound love for music. The historic Adelphi provided the perfect backdrop, adding to the significance of the event with its rich music-scene history.
 
However, this gig was more than just a big musical party; it was a resounding success as a charity event. We are thrilled to announce that over £600 was raised for Papyrus UK, a testament to the generosity and spirit of all those who participated and attended.
 
As educators, we couldn't be prouder of what our students have achieved. Not only did they put on an incredible show, but they also made a meaningful impact by supporting a cause that is close to their hearts.
