Hair & Beauty Event

For our Hair & Beauty Event, the plan is for employers to deliver a series of talks to groups of students, studying Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy.
The focus of this event is as follows:
Around 250,000 people work in hair and beauty across the UK according to the Hair and Beauty Industry Authority, with over half of them being self employed. You’ll find them in nail bars, spas, salons, barbers and specialist establishments (such as African-Caribbean hair salons). Together they add some £6.2billion to the UK economy every year, helping the world look and feel good, and the good news is that as long as those hairs and nails keep growing, the customers are going to keep on coming. Scissors on standby…
We are, of course, all different. We have slightly different tastes in food, clothes, music…and in the way we want to look when we face the world. The hair and beauty industry helps people achieve that look.  Getting along with people is an essential part of the job, and we would like to give our students the opportunity to meet and talk with those working in the industry, helping them improve their communication skills.

If you work in a Salon, Barber’s shop, Nail bar, Spa, Hotels and conference centres or doing hair and makeup units on film and TV sets we would be delighted if you could join in our event.
