Career focused masterclasses for prospective students to sample their chosen courses in Maths, Further Maths, Business, Economics, Accountancy

Within the Maths, Business and Economics faculty you will be able to sample a choice of masterclasses to include: 

Statistics in the World of Business 

Investigate the use of statistics in companies, from the use of distributions to customer research analysis. Come along to this masterclass if you are interested in studying maths or further maths at A Level or have a keen interest in the application of statistics in Business.

Economics. What is all that about? 

You will experience a basic introduction to economics; What are needs and wants? How does the economy meet those needs and wants through the efficient allocation of resources? 

You will have a chance to research and explore “the famous five” economists, what their theories are and how they apply to us in the current economic climate.

Are you hired... or fired?

Are you interested in how the human resource function works in business? In this session you will investigate how businesses recruit and select their most valuable resource – PEOPLE!  

You will look at how businesses develop their assessment centres to support them hiring new staff.

Suitable for those interested in:

  • Business

  • BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate in Business or Travel and Tourism (1 A Level Equivalent)

B&B Feasibility - Could you run a small hospitality business?  

This session aims to help you produce a feasibility study for a travel related start-up business. You will identify a B&B opportunity in the hospitality sector and prepare a feasibility study discussing sources of finance and the outcomes of a cashflow forecast. You will develop an analysis of your business opportunity in terms of advantages and disadvantages, highlighting any problems and offering solutions to those problems. The big question is….Will the Dragon’s invest?

Investigate the rapid growth of digital marketing across social media and the impact on advertising for business. In the session, you will look to get creative and produce your own Tik Tok advertisement for a range of products.

Complex Numbers – Are you thinking of studying Further Maths at A Level? Come along to this masterclass to have an insight to one of the major topics of the course; complex numbers. Be prepared to have everything you know about polynomials from GCSE to be challenged!
