Recently we saw 60 strong trialists descend onto our grassed pitches and brand new 4G to take part in the first Wilberforce Sports Trials.

Students were brimming with excitement for the journey ahead, and what potential opportunities are on the horizon with joining either the North Ferriby FC Football Development Academy or Hull KR Dual Development Academy.

The impressive industry-standard 3G pitch saw the potential new academy acquisitions showcase their talents in football, mixing with the current academy squad to leave the coaches and North Ferriby first team manager impressed with the quality of play on show.

Deputy Faculty Head for Digital, Sport & Engineering Adam Bolder and Rugby Coordinator Dan Rothery, were equally impressed by the level of talent that shone through in this first trial session, giving current academy students a run for their money on both pitches. Dan expressed “There was certainly a slight moment of fear for some of our current students as they can see the competition for squad places is about to ramp up for September”.

The next set of trials at Wilberforce will take place during the W DAY 2 session on Wednesday 27 June, this session will also include Girls Football and Netball Academy Trials.

The final Selection Day will take place during enrolment on the 28 August.

All participating students will receive further information in due course to advise of the time and location of the next sessions.
