Overview

Gain a sound introduction to computing with this work-related course, which is vocationally relevant for the IT industry. You will gain an insight into seven different areas of information technology, studying wide and varied topics that will give you a good grounding across many different units. Your learning will include a mix of formal lessons, practical workshops, and assignment workshops and an examination.

The benefits of this course are that you will develop your IT skills further, gain new communication skills and learn how to apply these in the workplace.

This is a very practical course that will prepare you to move into the IT sector, or enable you to move on to study at Advanced Extended Diploma level in IT.

Who is the course aimed at?

This course is for you if you would like to move on to study at Advanced Extended Diploma level 3 in IT. You may also find this course useful if you have aspirations to work in the IT industry.

    You must have at least four GCSEs at grades 9-3 or equivalent, including English and/or Maths at grade 3.

    This course will provide you with the opportunity to take part in trips to EGX London, the biggest gaming event of the year. You will be able to visit panels featuring the biggest names in gaming and hear all about unreleased games and technology, as well as play some of those games yourself! Within the college, you’ll be able to take part in the Upskilling Programme which will feature gaming and coding clubs, as well as our Esports Team, the Wilberforce Wolves!

    This is the perfect course to set the basis for a Level 3 qualification in IT.

    Students who complete a qualification in IT go on to a wide variety of jobs. These can include: Software Engineer, IT Technical Support Officer or Systems Analyst, to name a few.
