THAILAND WRAPPED 🌏✈️
As our students embark on their flight home, we want to reminisce their unforgettable Thailand adventure
From city tours and rickshaw rides to floating markets and long-tail boat trips, every day was packed with once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Students immersed themselves in Thai culture through visits to the Grand Palace and Emerald Buddha Temple, Wat Pho, and the stunning mountain views of Khao Kho and Eat Pha Sorn Kaew.
Highlights included a Muay Thai stadium fight, a peaceful elephant forest experience 🐘, a traditional Thai massage, and unforgettable evenings on the Chao Phraya dinner cruise and at Calypso Cabaret. The trip also brought meaningful connections with local schools and communities, creating memories that will last far beyond the classroom.

CARVE INK PRINT 🎨
Year one Art & Design students have been learning and practicing their lino printing. Transforming their designs into bold, graphic prints inspired by the work of Wayne Thiebaud.

TRAVEL & TOURISM ALUMNI – Leah’s Journey ✈️🌍
After achieving D*D*D in Travel and Tourism, Leah is now working full time as a Holiday Planner at Andrew Earles Holidays in Hull, turning their passion for travel into a career.
“I really enjoyed my time at Wilberforce College studying Travel and Tourism, as it helped prepare me for the next steps toward working in the travel industry. I gained valuable knowledge and practical skills that have stayed with me since leaving, and the experience gave me the confidence to pursue my career within the industry.”
Since leaving Wilberforce, Leah began working at Andrew Earles Holidays while still completing their course in April 2024, starting as a trainee supporting with administration. With training and support from the team, they have now progressed into a full-time Holiday Planner role.
“I absolutely love my job because no two customers are the same. I get to create so many different types of trips, whether it’s a honeymoon, a family holiday or a city break.”
Leah achieved exactly what she`d planned after receiving their results, and credit the knowledge and experiences gained during her course for helping secure their role within the Andrew Earles team.
Looking ahead, Leah plans to continue developing her industry knowledge and strengthening her sales skills to support her personal and professional progression within the company.

ECONOMICS AND BUSINESS ALUMNI – Alfie’s Journey
After studying BTEC Sport and A-Level Economics and Business at Wilberforce, Alfie is now completing a Degree Apprenticeship at Balfour Beatty as a Quantity Surveyor in the Power industry, gaining hands-on experience while also working towards his HNC (Higher National Certificate) and HND (Higher National Diploma) qualifications.
“My time at Wilberforce College gave me so many opportunities beyond the classroom. I loved being part of the football team and travelling around the country for matches, as well as taking trips to Portugal and Italy. These experiences helped me develop independence and other personal and social skills that I still use today. The teachers and staff were all incredibly supportive, which made my time at college really enjoyable and memorable. Wilberforce gave me the qualifications and confidence to step into the career I wanted, and I wouldn’t be where I am now without it.”
Since leaving Wilberforce, Alfie has been able to gain first-hand experience in Quantity Surveying while also gaining a degree at the same time through a Degree Apprenticeship with a leading national employer.

BUSINESS, ECONOMICS & MATHS ALUMNI – Luke’s Journey
After studying Business, Economics and Maths at Wilberforce, Luke is now a Trainee Accountant at Smailes Goldie, building his professional career through an apprenticeship pathway.
“I really enjoyed my time at Wilberforce, from the college trip to Disneyland to all the amazing teachers. It really helped me move onto my professional career. I first realised I wanted to be an accountant at the Wilberforce careers fair where Smailes Goldie had a stand, and fortunately I got the job after achieving my results. Since leaving Wilberforce, I have achieved my first accounting qualification and started my Level 4. I have also returned with Smailes to talk to current Wilberforce students about what the company and profession have to offer. Overall, I had a great time at Wilberforce. I found it both enjoyable and challenging. It’s a place where I made everlasting friends and great memories.”
Now, Luke is working towards becoming fully AAT (Association of Taxation Technicians) qualified and building the career he always wanted.

At Wilberforce, as a digital student you will get hands-on experience with the technology shaping tomorrow not only using the College`s facilities, but also by visiting partner employers.
Recently a group of our digital students took a trip to @sewellgroup. Students used CAD software to design plumbing routes before testing their designs in practical workshops. They also explored real building plans from some of Sewell`s recent projects through augmented reality, equipping them with real-world industry skills.

PUBLIC HEALTH 🏥
Imagine learning beyond the classroom. Our second year BTEC Diploma students recently did just that by taking a trip to Leeds to visit the prestigious Thackray Museum of Medicine. 💊
The group explored the history of immunisation and development of public health in the UK, understanding how vaccination programmes and public health systems have evolved over time.
This experience provided an insight into how important medical innovation are and the impact it has in protecting our communities today.
