Teacher of Engineering
Closing date: 9:00am on Wednesday 10 April 2024 Actual salary: SFCA Teacher Pay Scale, currently £30,500 per annum to £47,133 per annum (dependent upon qualifications and experience)

We are seeking a full time permanent Teacher of Engineering to join our growing Engineering team. The successful candidate will have experience of working in the engineering industry as an engineer, preferably from an Electrical engineering background.

This post will provide efficient and effective teaching to Level 2 and Level 3 Engineering students.  The College is fully committed to the expansion of Engineering across the College curriculum in order to equip young people to meet the skills and employment demands of this growing sector, and have invested a significant amount into our new Engineering Technical Hub.

This post is open to both qualified teachers and also industry skilled individuals who are looking to retrain in the rewarding career of teaching.  Funding for a suitable candidate to complete a PGCE may be considered.

Independent Governor (2 positions available)
Closing date: 11:59pm on Tuesday 30 April 2024 Actual salary: Voluntary

The Corporation is now seeking to appoint to two Independent Governor vacancies on our Governing Board. We welcome applications from individuals who would like to help shape the strategic management of the college, gain new skills and experience and use your knowledge and experience to make a difference. Previous experience as a governor is not required as training will be provided to support you in your role.

We are committed to the principles of equality and diversity, as such our appointments are made on merit, taking into account skills gaps and we particularly welcome applications from groups not yet represented on our Governing Board.

We currently have vacancies on our Audit Committee and Finance and General Purposes Committee.

  • You do not need to have governance experience to be a Governor. We have Governors with backgrounds in business, charity, education, government, law, accountancy, IT and audit.

Interested?

  • Training opportunities are provided for all Governors. 
  • All new Governors are assigned to an experienced mentor to support them through their first term.
  • Terms of office are usually between 2 and 4 years.
  • Meetings are usually held midweek 4:30pm – 6:30pm on site, with some option to attend virtually.
  • All Governors must complete safeguarding checks (DBS), annual eligibility declarations and complete a declaration for the Register of Interest.

Parent / Carer Governor
Closing date: 11:59pm on Tuesday 30 April 2024 Actual salary: Voluntary

The Governing Board (Corporation) is now seeking to appoint a parent / carer to our Governing Board.

We welcome applications from all interested individuals who would like to help shape the strategic management of the college, gain new skills and experience and use your knowledge and experience to make a difference. Parent Governors play an important role on our Board, and we value their contributions and commitment to making a difference for all learners at the college. To be eligible you must have parental responsibility for a current, enrolled learner at Wilberforce Sixth Form College who is under the age of 19 (at appointment). This can be as parent, carer, guardian or mentor.

Please note that being Parent Governor is a voluntary role and requires full DBS and eligibility checks.
