Work with us
We often hear from employers about their frustrations surrounding skills shortages in their sector. As our work culture changes, with more short-term contracts and more people moving into self-employment, the pressure on these gaps will present even more challenges. By forging links with Wilberforce Sixth Form College you’re helping to address our evolving employment landscape.
We are always seeking opportunities to link with new businesses and professionals in order to create work experience opportunities for our students. If you are a business owner, or work for a company that would consider supporting the education sector, there are a number of ways you could help Wilberforce College Students
- Offer a work experience or taster day at your place of work
- Deliver a talk to a group of students about your own career pathway or area of work
- Attend the annual college careers fair on behalf of your business or employer
- Take part in college mock interviewing activities
- Mentor a young person
What is work experience?
Work experience is a placement on an employer’s premises in which a student carries out a particular task or duty, or a range of tasks or duties, more or less as an employee would, but with the emphasis on the learning aspects of the experiences.

T Level partnership
T Levels will become one of the main choices for Year 11 students after GCSE alongside A Levels who wish to continue academic education, and apprenticeships for students who wish to learn a more specific occupation in a workplace environment.
These new, two-year courses have been developed in collaboration with employers and businesses to ensure that the content meets the needs of industry and prepares our students for work, further training, or further study. Partnering with employers can massively support our students with the knowledge and skill set they need for the future. Working collaboratively with local businesses will be key to developing these skills, alongside offering a wider range of job opportunities for our students to progress onto in the future.
We are on the lookout for any businesses that are interested in partnering with us to offer work placements in conjunction with our T Level provision in Digital, Business, Administration and Engineering, or would like to sponsor a work-related classroom.
