Overview
Beauty and Spa Therapy is a thriving industry based on providing facial and body treatments that improve how clients look and feel. This is a one-year course which follows on from our Level 2 course and will develop your skills in beauty therapy. It will provide you with the opportunity to become ready for work as a beauty therapist with a high level of occupational competency.
What will you learn?
You will learn how to monitor and maintain health and safety practice in a salon, provide body massage, facial and body electrotherapy treatments.
The course is broken down into a number of units, covering a wide range of salon procedures and practices.
Throughout the course you will learn about:
• Working with colleagues within beauty related industries
• Monitoring and maintaining health and safety practice in the salon
• Client care and communication in beauty related industries
• Promoting and selling products and services to clients
• Providing body massage
• Providing facial electrotherapy treatments
• Providing body electrotherapy treatments
There are also a range of optional units such as:
• Indian head massage
• Individual permanent lashes
• Micro-dermabrasion
Who is the course aimed at?
This course is for you if you wish to develop your existing skills to prepare yourself for a career in the exciting Beauty Therapy industry. You should be a positive and motivated person who is able to provide models for beauty therapy treatments.

Entry Requirements
You must have a minimum of four GCSEs or equivalent grades 9-4. A minimum of a grade 3 in English Language.
Students must have passed with the respective course at Level 2 and complete a trade assessment.

Experiences
You will be trained both in the classroom and the college’s training salon, where you will develop your understanding of the wide range of practices and procedures needed to work in the exciting beauty therapy industry such as providing facial skincare, waxing, manicure, pedicure, artificial nails, eye treatments, client care and health and safety. You will be working with others and giving and receiving treatments. You will also get the opportunity to learn from industry professionals as they visit the college in areas like spray-tanning.

Progression
This is the perfect course to enter into a higher level apprenticeship in Beauty Therapy or straight into employment.

Outcomes
Students who complete a qualification in Beauty Therapy go on to a wide variety of jobs. These can include: Beauty Therapist, Masseuse, Nail Technician or Lash Technician, to name a few!
