CREATIVE MEDIA ALUMNI – Liam Jackson’s Journey

After achieving an A in A-Level Art, A in A-Level Art Media Studies and A in A-Level Art Film Studies at Wilberforce, Liam is now halfway through a Digital Content Creator apprenticeship at Hull City Council, gaining hands-on experience across a range of exciting projects and events.

“I loved my time at Wilberforce. I was able to explore my different interests across my subjects and really understand my strengths and where I wanted to go with them. The careers team and my teachers were great in helping me gain valuable industry experience and develop the skills I needed to move forward.”

During their apprenticeship, Liam has already worked on major events including the Hull KR treble celebration, the Christmas Light Switch On and the Our City event, as well as interviewing a range of inspiring individuals from TV personalities to artists and international leaders in the cultural sector.

After leaving college, they were focused on securing an apprenticeship. Although they didn’t have one immediately, they used the summer to build a freelance portfolio, securing their current role just before results day and starting in September.

Now, they’re continuing to develop their skills within the digital team and are aiming to secure a permanent role at Hull City Council once their apprenticeship comes to an end.
