Overview
Hairdressing is an exciting industry based on cutting, colouring, styling and maintaining hair to improve how clients look and feel. This one-year course develops your existing skills from the Level 2 course and will prepare you for work as a hairdresser.
What will you learn?
Teaching will take place in both the classroom and in the College’s impressive and fully equipped training salon, where you will develop your understanding of the practices and procedures needed for a career in hairdressing. You will be working with others and giving and receiving hairdressing services.
Throughout the course you will:
• Monitor and maintain health and safety practice in the salon
• Undertaken consultation support for colleagues on hair services
• Style and dress hair using a variety of techniques
• Colour hair to create a variety of looks
• Undertake air colour correction
There are also a range of optional units such as:
• Cutting women’s hair to create a variety of looks
• Bridal hair
Who is the course aimed at?
This course is for you if you wish to develop your existing skills in hairdressing to prepare yourself for a career in the exciting hair industry. You should be a positive and motivated person who is able to provide models for hairdressing services.

Entry Requirements
You must have a minimum of four GCSEs or equivalent grades 9-4. A minimum of a grade 3 in English Language.
Students must have passed with the respective course at Level 2 and completed a trade assessment.

Experiences
Teaching will take place in both the classroom and in the College’s impressive and fully equipped training salon, where you will develop your understanding of the practices and procedures needed for a career in hairdressing. You will be working with others and giving and receiving hairdressing services. You will also have the opportunity to take part in Upskilling and College events, like W Day ONE, running stalls that offer things like hair braiding.

Progression
This Level 3 course is the perfect stepping stone into a higher-level apprenticeship, or straight into the world of work.

Outcomes
This course is for anyone who wants a career in hairdressing. You will be able to become either a hairdresser or barber, or if you want to go into a more specialist area, a colourist or hair stylist. Hairdressing and styling is a skill that is always needed, so you won’t be short of career opportunities once completing this course!
