Overview
The Health and Social Care sector is exciting and worthwhile. You will work with those who are vulnerable, helping them become increasingly independent, and to have dignity and choice in their lives. If you want to help and support people, are looking for ‘hands-on’ experience to care for their needs and build trusting relationships, then this course is for you.
What will you learn?
• Anatomy and physiology for health and social care
• Principles of safe practice in health and social care
• Infection prevention and control
• Caring for individuals with dementia
You will also study specialist units including topics such as abuse and dementia care.
During the two years you will go on four separate weeks of work placement, such as a residential or day care organisation or an early years setting, which will enable you to bring your studies to life and apply your new skills in a real work setting.
Who is the course aimed at?
This course is for you if you have a desire to support people, care for their needs and build trusting relationships. This qualification can lead you to employment in the Health and Social Care sector or into further study at university.

Entry Requirements
You must have a minimum of four GCSEs at grades 9-4 in three or more subjects, including a grade 4 or higher in English or Maths. You will also need a full DBS certificate.

Experiences
This course will provide you with the opportunity to hear from academic and industry professionals th talks and workshops, as well as visiting leading universities across the UK. Workshops are held by leading companies like CHCP and they help to enhance your learning through hands-on experience.

Progression
Students who complete a qualification in Health & Social Care can go on to complete a health-based degree in an area like Adult Nursing or Midwifery. You may also decide to undertake a higher level apprenticeship which could include working as a Care Assistant or a Nursing Degree Apprenticeship.

Students who complete a qualification in Health & Social Care go on to complete a wide variety of jobs. These can include: Nurse, Care Assistant, Midwife, Paramedic, Pharmacist or Teacher.
