Overview

A Level Photography is a dynamic course that encourages you to think creatively and develop your ideas in innovative ways.

You will explore a wide range of photographic techniques, including digital photography, photo montage, and traditional darkroom processes such as photograms, pinhole photography, negatives, and solarisation. The course also gives you the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology, including our laser cutter, alongside classic darkroom equipment, helping you build a diverse and versatile skill set that is highly valued in creative careers.

What will you learn?

You will produce a set of work which builds into a “personal investigation” that is worth 60% of your final grade. The externally set assignment is 40% of the grade and is theme based also. These themes are set by the exam board and you will develop ideas to a final outcome produced in 15 hours of focused work.

Coursework units are internally marked and externally moderated. You will present your work through Instagram with an account specifically for your A Level Photography work.

Who is the course aimed at?

This course is for you if you are considering an art, design or photography-related career pathway, if you want to broaden your knowledge and develop your skills in photography. If you enjoy a mix of technical and creative approaches, and like to think creatively and solve problems.
