Overview

Studying this course will open a multitude of doors for you within any creative industry. Our students have gone on to a broad range of successful careers which include fashion design, interior design, fashion journalism, costume design for theatre/film and as practising textile artists working in the industry.

A Level Textiles teaches you how to experiment with a broad range of techniques and work creatively developing your ideas.  You will find new and exciting opportunities to develop your skills and ideas around themes chosen by you.

What will you learn?

• Fashion design and illustration

• Garment construction

• Embroidery

• Appliqué and surface pattern/printed textiles

You will then have the opportunity to select your preferred specialist area and produce work responding to your own chosen theme. This work builds into a “personal investigation” which is worth 60% of your final grade.

The externally set assignment is 40% of the grade and is theme based. These themes are set by the exam board and you will develop ideas into a final outcome produced in 15 hours of focused work. Both of these units are internally marked and externally moderated.

Who is the course aimed at?

This course is for you if you are considering an art-related degree or career, if you want to broaden your knowledge of art and artists, enjoy seeing new approaches in art and questioning why things are the way they are.
