You must have a minimum of five GCSEs at grades 9-4, including a grade 4 in English Language.
It is preferable that you have a Level 2 qualification in an art-based subject (e.g. a Merit at BTEC or a grade 4 at GCSE). If you don’t, you will need to bring a portfolio of work to your interview which we will review as part of the enrolment process.
This course will provide you with the opportunity to explore Textiles in many different forms. Past trips have included the New Designers Show in London, the V&A Museum and travelling exhibitions at regional museums. Our students are also given the chance exhibit their work both inside and outside college, with some even winning or being nominated for national awards.
A Level Art (Fashion and Textiles) is the perfect basis for a degree in an art-based or creative subject like Textiles or Fine Art. This Level 3 qualification can also prepare you for a higher-level apprenticeship.
Students who complete a qualification in Textiles go on to a wide variety of jobs. These can include: Illustrator, Fashion Designer, Textile Designer, Textile Technologist, Graphic Designer, Printmaker or Teacher, to name a few.
