Overview

If you would like to work within the television or film industry, then this very practical course is ideally suited to students who want hands-on experience of production work in the media rather than consistently writing analyses or essays. You will gain an understanding of media and research techniques. You will find out about production management, pre-production techniques and video technology. You will also take specialist units looking at shooting a single camera drama, video editing, animation production and more.

This course is in partnership with Screen Yorkshire’s Connected Campus initiative, helping students to break into the competitive Film and TV industry. Students at Wilberforce College will be able to access a variety of boot camps, masterclasses and special events. They will also be able to visit current sets and studios, take part in industry workshops and listen to visiting speakers.

By fostering and building relationships between educators and employers, Wilberforce and Screen Yorkshire are then able to ensure that their students are fully equipped for the demands of a contemporary, rapidly-changing industry, creating a talented, versatile and fully-informed workforce.

Who is the course aimed at?

This course is for you if you enjoy being creative, you enjoy working as part of a team, and you are motivated to research and produce products yourself. It is ideal if you would like to work within the television or film industry.

How am I assessed?

All units are marked to pass or fail apart from the Final Major Project which allows you to access the higher grades of Merit and Distinction. All work is marked by Media tutors and moderated by UAL.
