Money makes the world go around. You will find out exactly how with this fascinating course, which looks at how money is the driving force of human activity and behaviour. You will learn about the UK economy – what it is, how it works and why the wellbeing of the economy is so important to us all.

The course will help develop the skills that employers’ value and expect from prospective workers of the future. It is also an ideal stepping stone to further study in an economics/business related field at university, such as finance or accounting.

You will study different areas of economic theory and how that theory can be applied to real world examples. Who is the course aimed at?

This course is for you if you want to understand how the UK economy works. It will prepare you to find a job in one of the many sectors of the economy, or can be used as a means of securing a university place on one of the many economic/business related degree courses available.

    Five 9 – 4 (A* – C) grades at GCSE including GCSE English Language and GCSE Mathematics at grade 4 (C).

    This course will provide you with the opportunity to take part in trips to businesses like the Amazon Fulfilment Centre in Doncaster, to learn how a business works first hand. You will also experience talks from visiting speakers and visit many universities to help you to understand the best career pathway for you.

    Economics will help to develop your analytical, numeric and communication skills, which can help you both at University and in a higher-level apprenticeship. Economics can be studied at university, but is also compatible with Law, Politics and Business. Apprenticeships are a good pathway to consider if you are looking for a career in accountancy.

    Students who complete a qualification in Economics go on to a wide variety of jobs. These can include: Economist, Stock Broker, Compliance Officer, Chartered Accountant or Teacher, to name a few.
