Overview

In East Yorkshire, Engineering is the biggest employment sector and it is growing all the time. Some huge contracts have been awarded to multinational companies in the area and these have created lots of job opportunities.

The Level 3 Extended Certificate course is an ideal stepping stone to a university course in Engineering or going straight into an exciting and financially rewarding career.

What will you learn?

Year 1 of the course covers the following units:

• Engineering principles

• Delivery of engineering processes safely

• Product design and manufacture

Year 2 of the course covers the following units:

• Commercial and quality principles

• Computer aided design

• Electronic devices and circuits

Who is the course aimed at?

This course is for you if you want a career in the Engineering industry and/or want to progress onto an Engineering course at university.

Entry Requirements & Other Info
  • Entry Requirements Arrow down

    You will need to have a GCSE average of 5.0 or more and have achieved:

    • Grade 3 or higher in GCSE English Language

    • Grade 4 or higher in GCSE Maths

    • Grade 4 or higher in Science (or equivalent Level 2 Science course)

    This course will provide you with the opportunity to hear from academic and industry professionals in talks and workshops, as well as visiting leading universities across the UK. You will also be given the chance to take part in multiple Upskilling activities, including our Green Power Team.

  • Progression Arrow down

    Students who complete a L3 qualification in Engineering can go on to complete a degree in a specialism within Engineering. This could include mechanical, electrical or chemical and can help you to navigate career pathways in the future. You may also decide to enter into a higher level apprenticeship, which will help you if you are looking to become an electrician or a mechanic.

  • Outcomes Arrow down

    Students who complete a qualification in Engineering go on to a wide variety of jobs. These can include: Electrical Engineer, Civil Engineer, Architect, Chemical Engineer, Conservationist or Mechanic.
