Overview
The City & Guilds Level 2 in Engineering is a dynamic course designed to equip you with essential employability skills highly valued in the industry. You will develop practical expertise in operating various types of machinery commonly used in the workplace, enhancing your technical proficiency and problem-solving abilities.
Through the use of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software, you will create engineering drawings and apply hands-on skills in bench fitting and fabrication, fostering precision, attention to detail, and adaptability.
The course emphasises practical learning, with most assessments completed through workshop and classroom-based tasks, ensuring you gain teamwork, communication, and time management skills. Additionally, two externally assessed units, completed in January and June, will reinforce your ability to work under pressure and demonstrate your knowledge in a formal examination setting.

Most of the course is completed internally in our state-of-the-art Engineering Technical Hub using the workshop and classroom spaces. Two of the units are externally assessed by examinations; these will be completed in January and June.

This course is for you if you want a career in one of the many different fields of engineering. It is also a progression route to our City & Guilds Level 3 in Engineering course.

Entry Requirements
You must have a minimum of four GCSEs grade 9-3, including Maths and preferably Science (or pass in a BTEC equivalent).

Experiences
This course will provide you with the opportunity to hear from industry professionals in talks and workshops, as well as visiting leading apprenticeship providers. You will also be given the chance to take part in multiple Upskilling activities, including our Green Power Team.

This is the perfect course to set the basis for a Level 3 qualification in Engineering.

Outcomes
Students who complete a qualification in Engineering go on to a wide variety of jobs. These can include: Electrical Engineer, Civil Engineer, Architect, Chemical Engineer, Conservationist or Mechanic.
