Overview
If you have an interest in creating and exploring film making, web design and print-based media products you will enjoy this very interactive, practical course. You will learn new software packages and get to produce video, internet and print-based media products and benefit from using the fantastic facilities in our media centre.
You will develop skills and literacy that are both challenging and fun. You will gain a qualification in Media equivalent to 2 GCSEs, study English and Mathematics up to achieving a grade 4 (C) and complete at least 30 hours’ work experience during the year. This course will lead to an Employability Skills Passport Certificate which will help to prepare you for the workplace, should you choose to enter it after this qualification.
What will you learn?
You will take two core units:
• Digital Media and Audiences – Examined
• Planning and Pitching – Coursework
You also take three specialist units in:
• Video Production – Create your own movie trailers – Coursework
• Media Industry in Context – Examined
• Web Design – Create and host your own multimedia websites – Coursework
You will also undertake work experience outside the college, which will enable you to develop both your qualifications and your social skills of working in a real environment.

This course is for you if you have an interest in creating and exploring film making, web design and print based media products, and if you like learning new software packages and enjoys both practical and written work.

Entry Requirements
Four 9-3 grades or equivalent, including English and/or Maths at grade 3

Experiences
This course will provide you with the opportunity to explore Media from many different angles. You will get the opportunity to take part in many different talks and workshops from leading companies in the area, including Nova and Hull City Council. Within college, you will be able to use your newly-developed skills to create branding and imagery for College events, as well as showcase your work in our Creative Arts Festival.

Progression
This is the perfect course to set the basis for a Level 3 qualification in Creative Media.

Outcomes
Students who complete a qualification in Creative Digital Media Production go on to a wide variety of jobs. These can include: Producer, Journalist, PR Manager, Graphic Designer or Teacher.
