Overview

The boom in digital marketing has resulted in the need for many more website developers and experts in social media, web and mobile applications. If you are interested in a career in this area and want to develop your skills around how businesses reach their customer base via web and social apps, this course is for you.

Many Software Developers, Database Experts and Systems Managers need web-client development skills as an integral part of their overall portfolio of expertise.

This qualification will prepare you for progressing on to a degree or directly into employment, giving you a starting point for progression to roles such as social media specialist, content developer and web developer as well as a wide variety of apprenticeships.

You will discover how social media can be used in a business context, exploring different social media websites and their effectiveness. You’ll develop and implement a social media strategy, developing and posting content and interacting with others

As a website developer, you must use sophisticated techniques to capture user interest and satisfy customers.

You will review existing websites, commenting on their overall design effectiveness.

You will explore the relationships between the hardware and software that form an IT system, and the way that systems work individually and together, as well as the relationship between the user and the system. You will examine issues related to the use of IT systems and the impact that have on organisations and individuals.

Who is the course aimed at?

This course is for you if you have a logical thought process, are creative and interested in how companies reach their customers via web and social apps, can research and work independently. The qualification opens doors to a number of further study and career opportunities.

    You must have a minimum GCSE average of 5.0 and grade 3 in GCSE English Language.

    This course will provide you with the opportunity to take part in trips to EGX London, the biggest gaming event of the year. You will be able to visit panels featuring the biggest names in gaming and hear all about unreleased games and technology, as well as play some of those games yourself! Within the college, you’ll be able to take part in the Upskilling Programme which will feature gaming and coding clubs, as well as our Esports Team, the Wilberforce Wolves!

    Students who complete a qualification in IT: Social Media & Web Development may choose to go on to complete a degree in an area like IT, Web Development or Marketing. If higher education isn’t for you, it may be that you want to undertake a higher level apprenticeship in an area like marketing or web development.
