BE PART OF ART HISTORY 🌟
Today marks the 120th birthday of the beautiful Grade II listed building that our Performing & Production Arts students get to call home for a lot of their college week.
It was originally built as the Hull Art School and since then has always led a life of being a centre to teaching the arts, now being the Northern Academy of Performing Arts (@napa_hull) 🎭
Do you want to be a part of this history? Are you the future of stage, film or TV? If you are passionate about a career in front of an audience or behind the scenes then our @unioftheartslondon Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing & Production Arts course will give you the knowledge and experience you need.
Unlike any other course in the area, it has the unique approach of being centred around professional practical based learning in all three performance disciplines and production, taught by staff with high-level industry experience from working in the business.

FOOTBALL FOR HEROES ⚽️
On Wednesday afternoon a group of Engineering and Uniformed Services students got kitted-up and played a game of football out on the field to raise money for @hull4heroes, a wonderful local charity committed to supporting the wellbeing and lives of veterans and their families in our community. The Uniformed Services students demonstrated their teamwork and leadership skills by planning, coordinating and participating in the event which raised just shy of £600. Well done!
This year`s #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek theme is movement, because doing so regularly is one of the most important things we can do to help protect our mental health. Regular physical activity is known to improve mental health, quality of life, and wellbeing.
So whether you get involved with a sport like our students here, or go for a short walk you are actively helping to keep your mind and body healthy. Find out more from the @mentalhealthfoundation 💬

This Sunday a group of our talented Music Performance & Production students and those part of the college`s official record label, @ronnorecords, will be performing at the worldwide charity event - The Distinguished Gentleman`s Ride - with Hull`s being at the @fruitmarkethull on the beautiful marina.
The event involves hundreds of classic and vintage style motorcycles, riding to raise funds and awareness for men’s mental health and prostate cancer research.
So if you`re a fan of music, motorcycles or just want to get involved in spreading awareness of mental health, then we`ll see you there! 🏍

For #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek a group of First Year Art students have created and put together an incredible mini-exhibition of bespoke work in the Immersive Space including paintings, graphic work, which is part of a live brief commissioned by @hey.mind, plus an interactive installation of a giant papier mâché brain sculpture that students are able to grab a pen and literally share their worries on. Sharing how we’re feeling is so important and you will see that you are not alone! Be sure to head to the Immersive Space all this week to get involved.
If you feel that you are struggling with your mental and emotional well-being, then do not hesitate to ask for support. Message any of the Student Support Officers or pop to Student Services to see them for a chat. We are all here to help and support you. 🤝

Last week we were thrilled to welcome PC Roberts (right) and welcome back Wilberforce Alumni PC Blanchard (left) to the college to discuss harassment and give students information on how to protect themselves, as well as being aware of their actions towards others. 💬
It is important not only this week, but to make it part of our everyday lives to spread awareness of how your actions affect others and ultimately have consequences.
PC Blanchard undertook a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Public Services at Wilberforce and then progressed onto University to study Criminology. Whilst there, they became a police special, before becoming a full time police officer. ⭐

A CAREER IN LAW ⚖️
A Level Law students recently welcomed Clinical Negligence Paralegal Leonie Collingwood from the law firm @clmedilaw and Youth Voice Practitioner Izzy Kitney from the children`s charity Kids to Wilberforce.
The pair gave an inspiring and informative talk on different roles within the legal sector, how to navigate this career pathway and shared their own personal experiences they`ve had reaching their current careers to the group, thank you again Izzy and Leonie! ⭐

OXBRIDGE CONFERENCE 🌟
A group of First Year students who are part of the University Excellence Programme recently attended an Oxbridge Conference hosted by @johnleggottcollege. This was a valuable opportunity for the group to gain further experience of how to master their UCAS application and discuss with fellow like-minded students who have the ambition to attend some of the best universities in the world following their college journey, whether that be #Oxford or #Cambridge, or one of the #RussellGroup 🎓
There was an interesting insight from some Second Year students currently with offers from these prestigious universities, who talked about their personal experiences and offered advice. Our own biology legend and Science Technician Dr Martin Walker was part of the interview preparation sessions at the conference, representing Biology and Biomedical Science. 🧫

Over 90 Year 1 Maths and Business Students participated in an entrepreneur day hosted by @feohull as a part of their NxGen programme.
The programme involves local entrepreneurs who volunteer their time to help inspire young people to think about self-employment as a career option.
The students received marketing masterclasses, led by outstanding local business directors, before pitching a business idea where prizes were to be won!
The whole group learned a range of valuable skills and showcased their entrepreneurial talents, with three exceptional teams selected as winners!
