IT’S LIGHTS OUT AND AWAY WE GO 🚥
Forget Silverstone, our eyes were on Blyton Park this week as our 2024 Green Power Car Team took to the track! Read the race report below! ⬇️
The @greenpowertrust challenge harnesses the excitement of motorsport and engineering to inspire young people to excel in #STEM as students design and engineer on campus in our designated workshop a single-seat IET Formula 24+ green-powered aerodynamic car.🔋

RACE REPORT // TUESDAY 9 JULY 2024:
Despite the weather conditions, with a 1 minute 44 seconds lap Colin (the chosen name for this year’s car) was the fastest on the track and after 10 minutes, driver Jacob Jackets led the pack in the F24+ Greenpower race! 🏎️
The team had set off in heavy rain and by the time of the race Jacob, Maksymilian, Josh, Konrad, Charlie, Alex, Jacob and Logan had spent four hours in the wet… but their spirits did not dampen and once the rain stopped and the track started to dry out, Team Wilberforce were flying round the track! A complete credit to their design and engineering work over the past year! 🌟
With performance at its peak, victory was in sight… however in a unanimous decision the team instead demonstrated their camaraderie and in the true essence of sport decided that it would only be fair to let all the second year drivers have a 10 minute turn and farewell in style to their college journey… as well as a very posh post-race picnic! 🤩
Five driver changes, a decision that would cost the race but give everyone a turn epitomises the teamwork, respect and friendship that the team has grown over the past year, well done to you all! 🌟

Alex, who studies A Level English Literature, Media Studies and English Language is passionate about radio and his involvement in the Student Radio Upskilling Programme. WALES WEEK ⛰️
Last week our first year A Level Geographers made the trip to beautiful North Wales for the annual field trip exploring physical and human environments in preparation for their NEA projects next year. 🥾
As well as collecting necessary research and data, students tested a range of fieldwork techniques and general practical skills. 🧭
Working out in the field, often in challenging terrains and climates, is a crucial experience for anyone wanting to pursue a study or a career of a geographical nature. 🗺️

LEAVERS’ FEST 2024 🎉
Yesterday we said goodbye in style to our final year students at Wilberforce with a festival of fun, food, friends and headline event of a Lip Sync Battle with some fierce contenders including Principal Colin as one half of the Gallagher brothers… 🤩
After some impressive choreography and crowd engagement, it was a close competition but the panel of judges deemed group “Can You Feel The Kenergy” the champions! 🎶
To all of our 2024 Leavers’… it has been a pleasure having you at Wilberforce and we will miss you, but cannot wait to see what your futures hold, good luck! 🌟
